We're serious about keeping your info safe - here's how we handle your data

Last Updated: November 6, 2025

Introduction

Look, we get it - nobody really enjoys reading privacy policies. But here at Ignis Valor Crest Auto Repair, we think you should know exactly what happens with your personal info when you trust us with your European performance or luxury vehicle. We're a Vancouver-based shop that's been working on high-end cars for years, and we treat your data with the same care we give your BMW's engine or your Porsche's transmission.

This policy covers how we collect, use, protect, and sometimes share your personal information. We're committed to transparency because that's just how we roll. If something here doesn't make sense or you've got questions, don't hesitate to reach out.

Information We Collect

When you bring your ride in or interact with us online, we collect a few different types of info. Nothing shady - just what we need to do our job right and keep in touch.

Personal Details
  • Name and contact info (email, phone number)
  • Billing and payment details when you pay for services
  • Your address for invoicing and communication purposes
  • Vehicle information - make, model, year, VIN, mileage, service history
Technical & Usage Data
  • IP address and browser type when you visit our website
  • Pages you view and how long you hang around
  • Appointment booking information and preferences
  • Communication records - emails, calls, text messages
Diagnostic & Service Data
  • Diagnostic trouble codes and scan tool data from your vehicle
  • Photos or videos of your vehicle for documentation
  • Service recommendations and repair history
  • Warranty and insurance information when applicable

How We Use Your Information

We're not in the business of hoarding data for no reason. Here's what we actually do with the info we collect:

Service Delivery

Schedule appointments, perform diagnostics, complete repairs, and maintain your vehicle's service records.

Communication

Send appointment reminders, service updates, quotes, invoices, and answer your questions.

Payment Processing

Handle transactions, generate invoices, and maintain financial records as required by law.

Service Improvement

Analyze trends, improve our processes, and make sure we're giving you the best experience possible.

We might also send you occasional updates about maintenance reminders or special offers, but you can opt out of that stuff anytime - no hard feelings.

When We Share Your Data

We're pretty protective of your info, but there are times when we need to share it with others to get the job done. Here's the breakdown:

Service Partners & Suppliers

Sometimes we work with parts suppliers, specialty shops, or diagnostic software providers to service your vehicle properly. We only share what's necessary - like your vehicle info or service history.

Payment Processors

When you pay by card, your payment details go through a secure third-party processor. We don't store your full credit card numbers on our systems.

Legal Requirements

If the law requires it - like a court order, government investigation, or regulatory audit - we'll hand over what's legally required. We're not trying to be difficult, just following the rules in Canada.

We will never: Sell your personal data to advertisers, spam companies, or anyone else. That's not how we operate.

How We Protect Your Information

Just like we wouldn't leave your Mercedes keys sitting on the counter, we don't mess around with data security. We use industry-standard measures to keep your info safe:

  • Encrypted data transmission (SSL/TLS) on our website
  • Secure, password-protected databases with limited access
  • Regular software updates and security patches
  • Staff training on data protection and privacy
  • Physical security measures at our shop location
  • Regular backups stored securely

That said, no system is 100% bulletproof. We do our absolute best, but if something ever happens, we'll let you know as soon as we're aware of it and tell you what steps to take.

Cookies & Tracking Technologies

Our website uses cookies - those little text files that help websites remember you. Nothing creepy, just helpful stuff to make your experience better.

Cookie Type Purpose Can You Disable?
Essential Make the site work - login sessions, shopping cart, security No (required)
Functional Remember your preferences and settings Yes
Analytics Help us understand how people use the site Yes
Marketing Track effectiveness of our ads and campaigns Yes

You can manage cookie preferences in your browser settings. Just know that disabling certain cookies might make parts of the site less functional.

Your Privacy Rights

Under Canadian privacy laws (PIPEDA and provincial regulations), you've got some solid rights when it comes to your personal data. Here's what you can do:

Access Your Data

Request a copy of all the personal information we have about you.

Correct Information

Update or fix any inaccurate info in your records.

Delete Your Data

Ask us to delete your info (with some legal exceptions).

Opt Out

Unsubscribe from marketing emails or promotional messages.

Data Portability

Get your data in a format you can take elsewhere.

Lodge Complaints

File a complaint with privacy regulators if you're not happy.

To exercise any of these rights, just shoot us an email at service@ignisvalorcrest.info or give us a call at (604) 287-5940. We'll handle your request within 30 days.

How Long We Keep Your Data

We don't hold onto your information forever - that'd be weird and unnecessary. Here's our general approach:

  • Active Customer Records: We keep your service history and contact info as long as you're bringing your vehicle to us. It helps us provide better service and track warranty work.
  • Financial Records: Canadian tax law requires us to keep invoices and payment records for at least 7 years. Non-negotiable, unfortunately.
  • Marketing Data: If you've opted into promotional emails but haven't engaged with us in 3 years, we'll typically remove you from the list.
  • Inactive Accounts: If we haven't heard from you in 5+ years, we'll securely delete or anonymize your data unless there's a legal reason to keep it.

If you specifically ask us to delete your data sooner, we'll do our best - but we might need to keep some stuff for legal or safety reasons (like warranty claims or dispute resolution).

Children's Privacy

Our services aren't directed at kids under 16. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you're a parent and think your kid has somehow given us their info, let us know and we'll delete it right away.

If you're bringing in your teenager's first car (congrats, by the way), we'll work with you as the parent or guardian for any data collection and service arrangements.

Changes to This Policy

We might update this privacy policy from time to time - new laws, new services, new tech, that sort of thing. When we make significant changes, we'll let you know via email or a notice on our website.

The "Last Updated" date at the top tells you when the most recent version went live. We recommend checking back occasionally, especially if you're privacy-conscious.

Questions? Get in Touch

If anything in this policy is confusing or you've got concerns about how we handle your data, don't keep it to yourself. We're here to help and we take this stuff seriously.
